We work hard to keep our customers satisfied. If there is a problem with your screen saver download or installation, please let us know right away so we can help you.

NOTE: If you have written to us and have not received a reply within 12 hours, please check your "reply to" email address. We always promptly reply to your emails, usually within minutes. Invariably when customers ask why we won't write back it is because we did write back but their "reply to" email address either was not correct or they had been checking a different email account looking for our reply. On occasion some of our customers' ISP accounts have problems for a few days. Again, if you do not receive your email within 15 minutes please send us an email and let us know. We will get your order confirmation and download links to you through an alternate email address or over the phone if necessary. You can also call us at 1-541-654-0400

ANSWERS
1. How do I register my screen saver?
Currently to register a screen saver you purchase and download the registered version of the screen saver. To purchase your registered version screen saver please use the BUY ME button on the screen savers' product page. To get to the screen saver's product page please click here to go to the list of all Windows screen savers with links to the screen savers product pages . You will be able to purchase the screen saver(s) of your choice through a secured online transaction using your credit card. You will be sent a download url.

To order by check or money order, please click here for the mail-in order form or send a note describing your purchase and make check or money order payable to J. Lutheran and mail to 2852 Willamette Street # 413, Eugene, Oregon 97405. Please allow 5-7 days to receive your screen saver download link via email.

2. The Demo version doesn't work on my computer. Will the registered version work?
Try downloading and installing the demo again. (uninstall the first demo). Sometimes files are only partially downloaded or are corrupted during download. Due to anomalies among computers (usually variances in video cards) a very small percentage of machines new or old do not properly run these screen savers This is one of the reason for the trial demos. Try out the demo. If it works well and you like it, feel free to buy the full version of the screen saver If the demo does not suit you, just delete it from your computer. And thanks for giving our screen savers a try. See removal instructions in 5 below.

4. How do I install my screen saver?

To install this screen saver double-click on the executable files (for example, dolphin.exe). The screen saver program will run automatically and will prompt you as needed. The screen saver will become your default screen saver You can change the default screen saver at any time through the Windows control panel. You get to the control panel by going to Start - Settings - Control Panel - Display - Screen Saver. Use the drop down menu to select the screen saver you want to be your default. You can also set delay time before start and mute the sound through the screen saver settings in the Windows control panel.

4a. How do I change my screen saver to another screen saver? How do I change my screen saver settings?

You can change the default screen saver at any time through the Windows control panel. You get to the control panel by going to Start - Settings - Control Panel - Display - Screen Saver. Use the drop down menu to select the screen saver you want to be your default. You can also set delay time before start and mute the sound through the screen saver settings in the Windows control panel.

5. How do I remove my screen saver?
To delete the screen saver do the following

We use two types of screen saver builders: axialis and screen saver studio. Go to your screen saver settings button to identify which program was used to build your screen saver.

1) For Screen Saver Studio:

To automatically uninstall the screen saver:

Go to Start (lower left of your computer screen) -- Go to Settings -- Go to Control Panel -- Go to Add / Remove Programs -- Find the screen saver you want to remove, select it (click on it) and click on the Add / Remove Button. When it asks if you are sure you want to remove the program Click on Yes when it says the program has been removed Click on OK .

If you do not find your screen saver in the program list or if you are not able to uninstall through the control panel or just prefer another method please do the following:

Search on one unique word that is in the title of the screen saver (for example the word "angel" for the angel fish screen saver) Delete all files with the title words (for example Angel Fish version 4) in their names. (This would be Angel Fish version 4.scr, Angel Fish version 4.dat and the folder Angel Fish version 4 -- if you have XP it will have created other files with Angel Fish version 4 in the names - delete those also). Delete the installation file you downloaded. Restart your computer.

2) For Axialis:

Find the screen saver's demo.exe file you used to install the screen saver and double click on it to start the uninstall process. Follow the wizard's instructions for removal. You can re-download the demo from our website if you need to or see additiona instructions for removal below.

If you do not have the demo installer or if the automatic installation process does not work you can manually delete the screen saver by doing the following:

  • delete the file [screensaverdemo].scr from the Windows / System directory

AFTER YOU UNINSTALL YOUR SCREEN SAVER YOU NEED TO RESTART YOUR COMPUTER

6. How do I find the file I just downloaded?
To find the program file do the following:
  • Go to start button at lower left of your screen go to find
  • Go to files or folders
  • Type in the name of the file you want to find
Note: contact us at the Contact Page if you need the filename
  • (you can open the file by double-clicking on it right there in the find file screen).
  •
    7. My computer won't open the file. What do I do?
Does the file end in .zip? If so you probably need to install unzip software (see question 14). If the file ends in .exe it may have been corrupted during download. Delete the file and download it again. Then double click on it to install. (See question 5 for uninstall instructions)

    8. My screensaver selection won't stay selected. Why?

Some versions of Microsoft Windows tend to forget which screensaver you selected. You may find that after you have selected a screensaver, it later reverts to your previous choice, or even to "none".

There are several things you can do to try and correct this:

    1. On some computers a workaround for this problem is to rename the screensaver file to something without spaces in the name. For example, locate the file 3-D Autumn Woods.scr, rename it to AutumnWoods.scr. This solution usually works for Windows XP. We began naming our screen savers without spaces at the beginning of 2008, so older screen savers may have this problem whereas the newer ones should not.
    2. Sometimes simply renaming the scr file as described in 1 above is all you need to do, but sometimes you may need to right-click on it and select "Install".
    3. On some computers this problem happens because the system file system.ini has been set to read-only. Locate this file and make sure it is not read-only.

    9. I downloaded the registered version but the demo version keeps coming up.
Make sure you installed the screen saver (see 4 above). If you installed the registered version and the demo still is displaying, you should uninstall your demo and the registered version, restart your computer, and then reinstall the registered version this will fix the problem. (This is needed for some computers, it's infrequent) . If you have many screen savers installed, on some systems the number of screen savers which will show up in the control panel is limited, so uninstalling one or more screen savers will allow you to install new ones and have them show up properly in the Control Panel.

    10. My screen saver is missing the image or there are colored lines running through the image
You may have had an incomplete download and therefore had a corrupted installation. Occasionally that happens with Internet downloads. If you have a download accelerator or download manager program disable it. Frequently these programs are the cause of corrupted or incomplete downloads. If you uninstall the screen saver program you downloaded and it was an incomplete download, (this is important so you don't reinstall over a corrupted file) you need to remove that file and then download the file again and reinstall it. Uninstallation instructions are listed in Question 5 above.

    11. My screen saver is missing the sound
Many of our screen savers have MIDI files for the music. Some are MP3 files. Download this MIDI file and this MP3 file and see if they play. If they do not you may need to configure your computer to play either the MIDI files or the MP3 files (see question 13). If you can play both the MIDI and MP3 files, then see 10 above. You may have an incomplete download.

If after you configure your computer to play the sound files you still are not able to play the MP3 file you may need to update your Windows media player, or if you have Windows 2000 you'll need Windows Media Payer v 6.4 to hear MP3 files. Windows Media Player v 7.1 does not play MP3 files for NT or 2000 systems. To change your Windows Media player. CLICK HERE to go to the download area for Microsoft products. Select your operating system and Windows Media Player. Then download the latest Windows Media Player for your computer (without SDK or Resource Kit in the name of the player). Write to us if you need help.

    12. When I try to install my screen saver it tells me some support files are missing or that it is not a valid Win32 app

Close all program files before installing the screen saver. This is the most common cause of this error message.

If you are on an NT-based system (Windows NT, Windows 2000 or Windows XP) you need to be an administrator to install a screen saver. Version 6 screen savers will not install at all on these systems unless you are an administrator. (If you're not an administrator you get a dialog saying that you need administrator privileges to install it.) Screen savers made with older versions of Screen Saver Studio, however, will try to install the screen saver regardless. Sometimes it will install and work, other times it will give the missing files error. (It has to do with exactly what permissions you have, what OS is running and if the hard-drive is FAT or NTFS.)

If you do not have Windows NT or 2000, you may have had an incomplete download and therefore had a corrupted installation.

Then download the screen saver installation file again from the same link as before. Close all open programs (including email and web browser) and then re-install the screen saver. That should fix the problem

    13. How do I configure my computer to play either the MIDI files or the MP3 files?
Click on Start at the bottom left corner of your screen. Move up the expanded menu and click on Settings. Move to the right and click on Control Panel. Double click on Multimedia (or Sounds and Multimedia). A new window title Multimedia Properties (or Sounds and Multimedia Properties) will opened. Click on the Audio tab at the top. At MIDI Music playback select a device and then click OK.

There isn't an MP3 configuration in the Windows OS. You just have to have a player installed like the Windows Media Player or RealPlayer.

    14. Where can I get unzip software?
If you don't have that you can download a free evaluation version from http://www.winzip.com/ddchomea.htm. You will need to install that demo.

    15. I order a screen saver but I did not receive my screen saver (or download link)
The link to download your screen saver is in the "Thank you for your order" email you were sent sent shortly after you placed your order. If you did not receive that email, please contact us at the Contact Page. If you have difficulty with your download, please contact us at the Contact Page.

    16. When I just downloaded my screen saver, the process of downloading worked but I do not have the screen saver Why is this so? What am I to do now?
Your screen saver installation file was probably saved your C: / My Downloads folder If it isn't there you can search for it Go to Start (lower left on your computer) - Find (or Search) - Files or Folders and type in the name of the executable screen saver file (e.g., dolphin.exe). After you find it double click (fast) on the installation file to start the installation process. If you still can't find it, please contact us at the Contact Page.

    17. I cannot download my screen saver. I get page not found.
Although it is always possible that a server could be down, so far we have identified download problems only when a customer typed in the address incorrectly and once when the user's own ISP was not allowing her access out. To make sure you have the correct address it is best to copy and paste the address into the browser window. If the problem persist, please contact us at the Contact Page and we will provide you with another link.

    18. How do I order by phone?

You can order by credit card over the phone by calling 541-654-0400 or you can request that we call you by sending an email using our contact form (click here for form) with your name, email address, street address, phone number and name of screen saver you are ordering. We will call you and complete the order over the phone. If we are out of the office there may be a delay of a few minutes to a few hours before we are able to call but we will do so as soon as possible.

    19. How do I order by mail?
To order by mail send check or money order to J. Lutheran, 2852 Willamette Street # 413, Eugene, Oregon 97405. Include your name, email address and screen saver you wish to order. Please write clearly. You may use our mail order form (click here for form) to place your order.

    20. Can screen savers, be converted to use as wall paper?
One way you can make a wallpaper from our screen savers is to hit "print screen" which saves the image to your clipboard and then use the Paint program (under accessories in any Windows program) to save the image to the Windows Directory as a bmp file and then select it as wallpaper from the display properties window.

    21. Your license came on. I waited awhile, and it didn't go away, so I closed it. Then I restarted my computer, and I couldn't find the installed screen saver. What happened?
Your display resolution is probably set to less than 800 x 600 and you can't see the "accept" button when the license comes on. Here's how to set your screen resolution to 800 x 600
    1. Click on Start button
    2. Click on Settings
    3. Click on Control Panel
    4. Click on Display
    5. Click on Settings
    6. Check to the right of colors drop down menu -- slide the slider to set screen area is at least 800 x 600 pixels. Click OK. When it asks if you want to keep that setting click yes.
    7. Now re-install your screen saver. You should be able to see the "accept button

    22. How do I copy and paste a link into my browser window?
To copy put your cursor on one end of the web address and hold down the mouse button. Drag your cursor to the other end of the web address. Let go of the mouse button hold down the Ctrl key and while still holding down the Ctl key press the C key. That will copy the text of the web page address into your clipboard. Now go to the browser address bar (where you type in web page addresses) and click. Now hold down the Ctrl key and while still holding down the Ctl key press the V key. That will paste the text into the browser window. Now click at the end of what you just pasted (this will unhighlight the text you pasted) and press the Enter key. That should start the download.

    23. Do you know any other web sites that have screen savers for free?
Although you can find some 2D art or slide show screen savers of photographs for free, most other web sites which claim to offer screen savers for free actually offer advertisements for a company. However, many web sites advertise their demo screen savers as free screen savers. And some internet portals advertise demo screen savers for free even if the companies do not advertise them that way. We only promote our demo screen savers as "demos". If you want those screen savers which are advertised as "free" but which are really demos for their full version screen savers or the ones which are actually ads for companies you find them by using a search engine such as google.com. Just type in "free screensavers"

If you later decide that would be interested in purchasing screen savers we have many varieties of discount sets that are imminently affordable and we have some awesome 3D screen savers completely unlike any you will find through other companies. Try them. I think you will like them.

We DO NOT recommend the use of Pay Pal's e-check service but instead recommend that you use Pay Pal's regular payment service.

    26. Some of your music is clear and loud and some of it is so soft I have to turn my volume up all the way to hear it. Why?
If the ones you are having difficulty hearing are MIDI files then your MIDI volume may have been turned down. Go to your volume control (usually it is the speaker icon on the right side of the bottom of your screen), double click on it to open it. make sure all volumes are set the same.

    27. I have Windows NT and can't hear sound.
If you run a Windows NT and want our screen savers that have MP3 music please read this. Windows NT media player v 7.x does not play MP3 files. Your meda PLAYER needs to be v6.4, not v7.x.

    28. What are the chances of downloading a virus from your screen savers .
We scan our files constantly for viruses and have a daily updated real time scan on the computers that make the screen savers. Unless the virus is something unknown to the major virus checkers there is no chance of getting a virus form our programs.

    29. I received a DVD but when I insert it in my DVD drive nothing happens. Why?
It's possible that the autorun feature on your DVD player has been turned off. To make it do the autorun you need to hold down the shift key as you insert the DVD. That should bring up the menu. If the autorun menu still does not come up you can still see all the files on the DVD and install from the DVD. Just use your Windows Explore to see the files on the DVD. To open Windows Explore right-click on the start button and select "explore". Then look in the left side pane of the window which opens for the Drive d (D:) which is your DVD drive (it may have a different label than D but it will look like a tiny DVD and will have the additional label SD Screen Savers). Click on that drive and look to the right side for the files on that drive. You can double click on any of the screen saver installers to start installing that screen saver.

    30. Our screen saver won't stay on for longer than five or ten minutes. After that, the screen goes black and we have only the sound. Can you please let us know how to fix this?
You have your power saving setting set to blank the screen after 10 minutes. If you don't want that to happen just increase that time period. To change that setting go to START-SETTINGS-CONTROL PANEL-DISPLAY PROPERTIES-SCREEN SAVERS Near the bottom of that window is a button labeled "Settings" --- Select that button -- choose "NEVER" in the drop down menu next to "Turn off monitor"
